Kind Words @ Our Place

We are so very proud of the young people at Our Place School and it is hugely important to us that they feel they are heard. We are also extremely keen for parents guardians and Ofsted to share with us their experience when coming to see the children.
Here is what a few of them have said about their time here with us:
K, (Parent) – Aug 2024
The location of the school is perfect it has a lot is space which my child needs.
The access to open space and environment that our place gives the children is great they have an amazing environment as well which helps them grow.
I can’t even put into words the level of care and support my child is like a completely different child he has progressed so much since January 2024 and is the happiest I’ve ever seen him which is all thanks to our place
Finding a school to accept my child was very stressful not just for me as his mum but also for him and having to go months with no school and feeling like there was no place for my child it was horrible once we got a place at our place, we had a weight lifted.

Our Place School has given us so much hope for our son and he has come on so much in the six months he has been there.
No other school were willing to take him due to his complex need, whereas Our Place School has welcomed him with open arms.
The staff are all amazing, dedicated, understanding and supportive of the children in their care and I am constantly updated and involved in any issues or concerns.
The school itself is a haven for children. The outdoor space and activities on offer for the children makes it more appealing for children or struggle with a school environment.

You are a fab school with a fab head teacher and an amazing team. This school means so much to my child and myself.

The school has great access to space huge field, great woodland area for forest school this allows the school to get people in to do football training cricket lessons and many more, these are activities that our children would miss out on in day to day.
The level of care out kids receive are on such a high level no matter if the child has had a bad day they will always find a positive about their day, they work so hard to help them achieve the best they can, the support to us as family has been amazing any issues we have we know we can bring them up and we will have a reply or phone call or email within the hour nothing is to much for them.
To find a school for our child was extremely difficult it took us 4 years to get him to a school that meets his need we were sent to a autism base which let him escape 5/6 times before being reduced to 1 hour a day at school, when we found our place they tried every other school in the surrounding area but our place were the only school that were happy and could manage his additional needs.

My child has thrived so much there he was stuck development wise not going forward very unsettled before. The school has so much space and the location is perfect it’s not noisy but really peaceful. It was so difficult to move him from his previous school it was clearly the wrong school for him he was stressed all the time limited time table only 3 hours a day sometimes 2 the council made it so hard they kept giving the school targets to see if it improved his behaviour which it didn’t and I knew it wouldn’t because there was to many students and too much noise and quite cramped. He had nowhere to go for quiet I did have an advocate on our behalf she was brill his EHCP read really bad so he was rejected from I think 4 school who refused to meet him so my advocate advised they adjust it took a year but finally I was so happy when our place said they would take him and took the time to meet him and understood right away he couldn’t cope in that setting. I felt like I was being listened to and he had the same transport for a year which is huge as we went through a few transport he is a different child since starting still has meltdowns but so much more manageable and not frequent as he used to have them all day the staff are brill and offer loads of support and the communication is brill even my other son said his school is much better than his more fun.

The location of the school is quite central in Worcestershire which is good. The access to open space will be amazing for my child and something that he was desperately lacking at his old school and something that he requires to meet his needs. It will feel like freedom for him and hopefully do wonders for his behavior.
The level of care and support once again is something which my child will benefit from. Having his own place and 1 teacher with him at all times is vital for his development. The previous school was allocated to us as the one and only school there were no other choices – we did not know any better at the time we just learned that our son had autism and we knew nothing about it.
After few years we knew that the school was not right setting for him but we also learn that is not so easy to find another.
It took me 2 years to fight and to obtain place at ” Our Place ” which made us very happy and promising for a better future.
He was stressed all the time limited time table only 3 hours a day sometimes 2 the council made it so hard that they kept giving the school targets to see if it improved his behaviour which it didn’t and I knew it wouldn’t because there was too many students and too much noise and quite cramped. Our Place school has been a god send to us it’s such a fantastic school its location and school grounds give the children opportunity to explore and be free the change in my daughter since starting the school is remarkable, it is perfect for my daughter. Prior to joining Our Place my child was out of education for 2 years she just could not cope in a mainstream or formal setting. Our Place is like a family rather than a school the staff nurture the children feed their confidence and give them the freedom to grow they go above and beyond to support our children.
The open grounds give the children so much space to roam the child led education tailored to each individual pupil puts less pressure on our children giving them the opportunity to thrive they really understand our children and get to know them and help build and work on any struggles they have and really encourage them through a fun kind and caring warm environment and educate to meet each child’s needs our place is one a kind and we are blessed that our daughter has a space and I’m confident that at our place she will continue to thrive and they will encourage and support her giving her the best opportunities and care to grow and be the best she could possibly be.

The location of Our Place is ideal for students like my son, set in a rural area, away from the hustle and bustle of the busy streets means a quieter and calmer environment which many autistic students benefit greatly from. Our Place is the right setting for him and for the first time in his life he enjoys attending school, he has never once complained about the journey, instead uses it as a quiet, relaxing time before and after school. His previous school less than 10 minutes from home was a daily battle and when looking for a school for him the local authority was considering schools much further away.
The access to open space is crucial to my child. Due to his needs he can not access a traditional classroom setting and finds a playground full of children extremely overwhelming. He needs regular movement breaks and can’t always socialise with others so the open space and the safe, nurturing, understanding environment that Out Place School offers means his needs can be fully met here.
The level of care and support offered by our place is unmatched. They really take the time to get to know each child on roll as an individual and completely customise the day and the curriculum to ensure each child does the best they can on any given day.
Before coming to Our Place our son was a very sad, broken little boy who had been failed over and over by the education system. His self esteem & confidence was almost non existent and he was carrying a lot of trauma. Our Place welcomed him with open arms, they took the time to really get to know him, his likes/dislikes, what works/doesn’t work and for the first time in his life he goes to school every day happy with a smile on his face and I know he is getting the best possible care and support I could ever ask for him.
Our Place and our lives changed for the better. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect school for him if I’d have designed it myself. Our son now has the chance at a happy future and we have absolutely no doubts that he will fulfil his potential under their support.
Our Place has been our lifeline, and without them doesn’t even bear thinking about as we know with certainty there is no other school for our child.
