Our Place Schools part of the Our Place group are delighted to announce that they have received a rating of “good” from a recent Ofsted visit that was undertaken on the 29th June to the 1st July 2021.

The Independent Special School provides for students with a range of special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) in the areas of communication and interaction, including autism spectrum disorder, cognition and learning, social, emotional and mental health, and sensory impairment. All pupils have an EHC plan.

The aim of the school is based around “Opportunity, Potential and Safety” and the inspectors stated that

“The aim of the curriculum is clear- to prepare pupils for adulthood, building their confidence and independence alongside academic success. The curriculum is ambitious and offers pupils different pathways to meet their needs”.

After their recent visit , the Ofsted report stated that;

“Our Place is a happy school. Pupils develop trust and confidence because of the positive relationships they have with staff. Teachers have high expectations of what pupils can achieve. They tap into pupils’ interests, such as gardening, cooking or sewing, to make learning fun. This helps pupils to stay focused on their learning. There is a calm, purposeful atmosphere in the school. In the school woodland area, pupils learn about plants and animals and toast marshmallows over the campfire. Pupils enjoy each other’s company. They are kind and helpful towards each other.

Parents feel that their children are well cared for at this school.”

David French the proprietor of the school has stated that;

 “Our Place Schools are delighted to announce an excellent outcome from their recent full Ofsted inspection.

The School has been rated “:Good” in all aspects of the inspection.

The staff are delighted that the merits of the specialist and individualised education provided to the school’s pupils is recognised by the Government’s official compliance watchdog as being amongst the best in the Country

This is another feather in the cap for the local independent school that is going from strength to strength in providing a caring and stimulating environment for young people with special education needs and who are looking to build on the success of this Inspection and to work towards becoming “outstanding”.
